Is it faith?
Who knows why I dreamed of building a wee studio next to the garage ~
I didn't really need another place for art.
My office is OK - or the dining room table.
But instead - I imagined a warm woodsy room with a gentle water view ~
a cozy bednook for napping,
a large round table for creating collages,
lots of intriguing art books,
a few choice novels,
an almost invisible sound system,
wild paintings in ornate garage sale frames.
I pictured small groups of soul sisters
gathered 'round the table
creating, singing, coloring, collaging, painting,
chatting, laughing ~
A warm retreat, serene and hilarious.
A vibrant quilting bee!
I HAD TO BUILD THIS PLAYROOM
It started out as a tiny rough shed -
no insulation, no drywall ~
We added an old door with stained glass - and roof beams!
It morphed into a cedar-lined space with skylites and quirky windows
from the junk yard
Every day I watched the dream emerge
Our tough creative construction crew became my friends
Their fabulous woman boss teaches young women the building trades
and tolerated me changing my mind almost daily!!
I am thrilled with every step in the process
Now, after months of work we're almost ready to decorate and use this
SERENE, SIMPLE, SANCTUARY
of my dreams!
INSIDE, the fun has just begun ~
art materials to play with ~
pictures to hang ~
music to play ~
BUT WILL THEY COME?
~ I have faith ~
