If I wake up bored...just wanting to turn over and go back to sleep...I may have repressed an exciting new idea! When a new idea really turns me on, my personal saboteur called COMMANDER SKEPTIC quickly squashes the idea with warnings like this:
"why bother?" "who cares" "you don't have the energy" "its been done before" "do you realize how much work is entailed?" etc.
If I listen to these dire warnings...it's like a pin in a balloon - and the idea loses juice.
So what to do with those familiar killing voices? I might start a dialog with them that goes something like this: "ah, so there you are again...can't you even let me entertain this good new idea for a minute? are you saying I don't deserve to be so thrilled and delighted? Are you trying to protect me from falling on my face?" "What do you want from me?'
"OK, I hear you...you're saying that I get all excited about lots of things...might even invest energy, money, time in them...and then forget all about them and move on to the next idea...you say I'm just a dreamer. You're telling me to get real. Focus. Stay put. Don't take risks. Don't move out of my comfort zone."
"WAIT A MINUTE....you are only partly right :) I am a dreamer, I do have lots of unrealistic ideas...but I'm not going to let you kill ideas that have real JUICE for me....that invite me to be my REAL SELF...I can tell the difference...a juicy idea seems to bring all my gifts and desires together, it pulls me forward, it uses my mind, heart, body...it feeds my soul. For an idea like that I am never too tired or too busy. And that is a clue!"
So I ask:
"what turns me on now? "what makes my cells pop? what electrifies me? "
- If I say NO to the saboteurs, If I listen to my bodysoul...
I'll GO WITH THE JUICE!
